Vintage Luggage

Vintage suitcases are so uniquely beautiful, with their metal clasps, strong frame and classic metal corners!  Although they may not be practical to travel with these days, there are SO many fun and creative ways to use vintage suitcases in your home.  We’ve put together a collection of beautiful ideas and images to inspire you.

You can use an oversize suitcase as a coffee table in your lounge room.  If it has a gorgeous patina, leave it raw and top with books,  flowers & glass cloches.  Otherwise, you could even paint the whole suitcase in a colour to suit the decor.

They’re the perfect accessory to stack and fill an otherwise awkward nook in your home.  They can also double as extra storage for doonas and blankets in Summer, kid’s toys or even paperwork in a home office.  They can also act as a table for a beautifully styled vignette!

You can even turn a suitcase into a vanity cabinet for your bathroom, complete with light bulbs, a mirror & hooks!

You can even take one out of the house for a picnic with a loved one.  Pack you rug, plates, cutlery and glasses in the suitcase, then use as a table.  A perfect day out!

If you’re planning your wedding, why not add a vintage element by using a suitcase as a “wishing well” for any cards, to display your cake or for guest gifts.  You can even get one handpainted with a customised sign for your special day!

You can find vintage suitcases in charity stores (like Salvos & Vinnies), vintage stores, garage sales or even council cleanups.  Just keep your eyes peeled and before you know it, you’ll have a collection of beautifully curated vintage suitcases that have their own story……. and may have even travelled the world!
